Sneak Peek Into What's New at Wufoo

New BeginningsAs many of you have already noticed, we’ve been rolling out some changes to Wufoo. As we approach our 10th birthday, we’re excited to highlight the recent updates and give you a little preview of what’s coming next.

New background

The most obvious change is probably the new background. We’ve opted for a simpler style this time, removing the old yellow stripes. This is a big step towards our plans to bring a fresh look and feel to Wufoo.

Easy Form Builder access

Clicking on a form title in the Form Manager now takes you directly to the Form Builder. This is a great way to make some quick changes or additions to a form. You can still access the Form Builder through the Edit button under the form as well.

Got new entries? Find them fast!

If you’ve gotten some new entries in the last day, the Form Manager displays a count of those entries next to the form title. To make it even easier to check on your latest entries, clicking the green Entries notification will now take you straight to the Entry Manager. As before, you can also continue to use the Entries button under the form.

Quickly share or embed a new form

After saving your changes in the Form Builder, we provide some handy links to help you take the next step in preparing your form. Our latest addition to these options is a direct link to your form’s Share page. Since this is the best place to find all of the options for sharing or embedding your form, it felt only natural to make the Share page only a click away from the Form Builder.

Updated Share page

The Share page has been updated before but we’ve got some new ideas that we’re getting ready to roll out. As with the rest of the changes, the focus will be on helping to streamline your workflow and making it easier to find the most commonly used features.

Form Manager design and layout

The Form Manager is where many of you spend a lot of time, and we’re hoping to make that time a little more enjoyable and productive. We’ll be looking at ways to better organize some of the existing features and continuing to make the Form Manager a little easier on the eyes. The new design should also make it easier for us to adapt and expand the Form Manager to accommodate any additional changes in the future.

As always, our goal is to make building online forms fast, easy, and fun. We hope these updates will help with that goal, and we’d love to hear what you think too. If you have any thoughts, comments, or suggestions, please share them with us!

  • While I use forms for a multitude of tasks the missing link for your system is what to do with the data.

I find myself having to enroll the services of icontact or some other email marketing
Service. That is an additional cost ( about $20/ month) that could be income for you.

it would be far more convenient for me and would certainly add additional revenue for you.
It seems you have a relationship with Survey Monkey but from where I sit it would seem to
Be an obvious addition to your services

    Best Regards

  • I have clients that use wufoo and we provide training/support for them. They will be asking me when things change, as they already have been.

Do you have a loose timeline/schedule for future updates?

  • I find it frustrating that there is no phone number to call to access live tech support We have had an ongoing problem without any satisfaction from the back and forth with email and screen shots. WHY CAN”T SOMEONE TALK TO ME!!

  • the feature I need most is functionality to ask for quantity by product with mathematical calculation of price. Is fixing this defect on your upcoming feature list?

  • What would help the most is Folders! So I can organize my forms and give access to people to a folder instead of having to give them access to each new form.

  • Ditto to Zeni. This has been a feature request for at least two years.

  • wufoo is a great tool for us and we are happy to see the new improvements. We just have one request. We want to be able to use the address field to capture mailing addresses but the word “street” is hard coded in and cannot be removed. If you remove it, then we can add the word “mailing” or “street” to the field description to customize it for our specific purposes.

  • Ditto to Zeni. Also, something I mentioned on Facebook that would really help is an increase to the number of rules per form. Unlimited would be best!

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Laura.
  • Really need a way to add an “admin” name or something for internal form management. I have tons of forms, and many of them have similar titles, so it’s really hard to remember which one is which! Help!

  • Folders – a way to archive or even tag
Lack of, is why I do not recommend site to clients and why I will likely be leaving

Posted April 6th, 2016 by joe.
  • +1 Folders and any type of form organization management. The system is a mess. That being said i’m glad to see improvements finally coming. wufoo has felt like a product that has been drifting for the past few years.

  • body {background: #fff} being a “… a big step towards our plans…” is about all you need to know concerning the development of this product over the past few years. It’s almost laughable.

  • I want better control over export field names. I export some wufoo forms as an Excel file and import them into a FileMaker Pro database. But there’s a problem with the Address field type. State/Province/Region exports with “State/Province/Region” as the field heading, which is used as the field name in FileMaker Pro — but FileMaker Pro doesn’t allow the “/” character as a field name. This leaves two alternatives: (1) every time we export from wufoo, open the file in Excel and manually edit all instances of “State/Province/Region” to “State_Province_Region” before importing to FileMaker Pro, or (2) don’t use the Address field block, and instead, manually create separate fields for two address lines, city, state, zip and country. My request would be that exported field names not contain the “/” character. But an even broader and more helpful change would be giving the option of giving any/every field an export name.

Additionally, in some forms, I have the same field name in more than one place — for example if a rule will control whether a user sees one field/page or another — or if the same field name occurs in different sections. wufoo exports these instances with one or more underscore characters before a the field name, so they are unique: “Staff”, “_Staff”, “__Staff”. If there was an optional export field name, I could leave them named the same for the user, but specify that for export purposes, these fields would have names I define: “Primary Staff”, “Secondary Staff”, “Preferred Staff”.

Finally, the way checkbox/radio button choices are exported is similarly problematic. If I have 10 choices for a field called “Staff”, these export as 10 different fields called “Staff”, “_Staff”, “__Staff”, “___Staff”, “____Staff”, etc. If they are going to export as 10 different fields — which is fine — it would help if each of the fields were named with the actual choice (“Accounting”, Sales”, “Marketing”, etc.) rather than the field name with underscores. The current system is pretty much unworkable because if I ever add a new choice between, say number 5 and 6, all the export field names will change because the number of _ prefixes will change. But if the checkbox/radio button choice was the export field name, adding or deleting choices wouldn’t require programming additional changes for all the other fields being imported into a database.

  • Another thing that causes us pain is the inability to have the option to create a customized message for a closed form instead of the generic “This form is no longer accepting submissions.” I’ve been asking for this for years, and I know lots of other users have, too, so it’s frustrating that this has never been addressed. Instead of wasting time on getting rid of yellow stripes on the background, how about delivering key features we really need?!

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Eric.
  • Folders folders and more folders!

Organizing our files and the ability to EXPORT analytics would be wonderful.

I did want to add that I come from a non-technical background as you already know and it is possible for someone like myself to use these forms and make magic happen. You offer excellent support. Last year I was able to generate over 300K worth of revenue all by using wufoo.

You have to persevere and be willing to hack things out a bit, but it’s all worth it.

  • Folders!!! And I wish for a way to print forms or download as a pdf. I seem to have a few people each time that needs a low tech version. It would also help when I am building forms for others and I want them to look the form over.
Keep up the awesome work! I love wufoo!!!

  • I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR A PRINT BUTTON TO ADD TO THE FORMS FOR 5 YEARS. STILL NOTHING!
JOTFORM YOUR COMPETIOR HAS THIS OPTION. It can’t be that hard to add!

  • We use wufoo for our organizations reporting process and would really like it if there was a save & return option on forms for our partner organizations who complete the reports.

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Danae.
  • I’d like to see a way to create categories or folders for forms – i currently have over 100 forms in a single view

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Eric.
    1. FOLDERS – Organizing the forms has been a nightmare.
    2. PRINT FORM – Ditto to comment about having to print form to hand out or even to give to someone to proof
    3. Better interaction between wufoo & Authorize.net to be able to utilize Authorize.Net’s recurring billing feature. We now have to use Pay Pal & it’s a NIGHTMARE!
Posted April 6th, 2016 by Laura McKinzie.
  • I just read over all the other submissions – Good stuff. A lot of folks with frustration. I will point out for my organization, wufoo has been a God send and still is today. I do agree with Judy Nichoslon that as a customer, I really would like phone support – I’m currently paying for the highest package and creating a great deal of dependence on this product/service and when I have a technical issue (very rare) I want to talk to a human in real time.

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Eric.
  • I have had many clients email me stating they cannot upload their photo ID to forms. This keeps happening and the file types are the same as many that get thru. This creates more admin time for both parties, paying $400 NZD a year for one software program that does not deliver.

The whole look of wufoo seriously needs updating, its so far behind the times – not just the background.

Posted April 6th, 2016 by bec.
  • Geez . . . I’m so happy with wufoo I could dance in the street! Folders would be nice, but I can just sort easy enough. Granted I’m not a mega-user, but just thought I’d tell you finding wufoo solved so many problems for me, my clients, and the work I do, that I’d rather praise than complain at this point. The other alternative was me retyping paper forms with illegible writing, or using Form Mail and copying/pasting from emails.

I originally used wufoo forms for the Clinical Virology Symposium, to register speakers, exhibitors, etc. Now I’m retired, and use it for my fantasy football empire. We’re non-profit non-payout, so we use it for applications, and minimal league fees. Also use a form to collect info for my 50th HS reunion.

So thanks! Virtual hug is on the way!

  • Thank you all so much for the outpouring of suggestions and continued involvement with us. We love it, and we love that you are invested in making wufoo better. We want to do our best to provide a platform that offers the most useful features to the most people, and you all are a big part of that.

As Michael mentioned, keep an eye out for more design upgrades in the coming months. We are committed to improving our design, adding features, and refining existing functionality as we move forward in our second decade (!!!). It’s folks like all of you that have made that possible, and we’re grateful to have you with us.

We have our ears open, and we’re always receptive to input here on the blog, as well as on our Feedback Form.

Thanks for your continued support. We’re looking forward to providing you with great forms, new features, and plenty of dinosaur jokes for the decades to come.

  • Ditto to Zeni. Folders! Folders! Folders!

Posted April 6th, 2016 by Jim Bellomo.
  • I think that reply above was a no to folders. But keep your eyes peeled for a new footer background!! Woot!! And dinosaur jokes! The dinosaur jokes make the time I spend searching through 200 forms using “contact” as a filter fly by!
